Andrew Mehrtens

Former All Black and Canterbury 1st Five Eighth.

Immensely popular Canterbury first five who are regarded by some in the game including Colin Meads as the finest to wear the number 10 jersey. Off the field, Mehrtens was equally popular because of his pleasant manner, wit and sense of humour.

All Black from 1995 to 2004. He played 281 first class games for 3178 points, 108 games for Canterbury for 1056 points, 87 for the Crusaders and 981 points, 72 games for the All Blacks and 967 points in 70 tests. He left NZ for English club Harlequins in 2005 before joining French team Toulon in 2007, French Pro D2 team Racing Métro 92 for the 2008-9 season and Beziers in 2010, where when he is not playing he will be doing a spot of coaching.

In 2014 he joined the Waratahs as a kicking coach and currently resides in Sydney.
