Jeff Wilson

Legendary All Black back, Jeff Wilson "Goldie" is now making his mark as a rugby commentator.

Brought up in a sporting household in Southland, by his late teenage years Jeff had represented Southland at both rugby and cricket. After a shift north to Dunedin for study purposes, he then played for both Otago in both codes which led to his selection in 1993 to both national teams, making him one of only seven individuals to have played both sports for his country.

Jeff played 56 games for Otago, 72 games for the Highlanders, and 60 tests for the All Blacks from 1993-2002.

He played 6 ODI’s for New Zealand cricket, four in 1993 and then after his rugby career he played a further two games, all against Australia.

Post-sporting career Jeff worked across several fields doing contract coaching, TV commentary, farming, horse training, and rugby administration.  After a stint coaching North Harbour rugby, and briefly with the Blues, he then went on to work exclusively in the media world.

After 15 months of working breakfast radio he then became a regular contributor to Sky Television on their rugby production and is currently a full time broadcaster for Sky hosting their rugby show “The Breakdown” and commentating across both rugby and cricket.

Jeff married former Silver Fern netball captain Adine Harper and they have two sons; Harper and Lincoln.
