Glen Osborne

Glen Osborne, better known as Ozzy, is one of New Zealand’s most humorous sporting heroes.

Born and bred in the back blocks of the Wanganui District, Glen has grown up understanding that to achieve anything you had to work. Glen used these strengths, learnt as a young country lad, to succeed in the rugby world.

Glen really came of age when selected for the NZ 7’s team, making a huge impact and gaining ‘Player of the Tournament’ in nearly every competition played.

He played his first game for the All Blacks in 1995 and achieved 29 caps with 19 tests throughout his career. As an All Black he quickly became popular off and on the field.

His rugby still allowed him to be selected for every team in the Black jersey, from NZ Maoris, NZ 7’s, NZ Colts, NZ Divisional, NZ Academy, and NZ A, to the ultimate, the All Blacks

After returning from 4 years in Japan, Glen was quickly snapped up by Maori TV, identifying his talent as a TV Sport Presenter.

Glen also became one of North Harbour Rugby’s adopted sons, and was an intricate part of “the brown brother’s” legacy.

In recent years, Glen was the proud Owner/Operator of the successful Matakana Butchery for two years and then worked part time on a voluntary basis as an Honorary Fisheries Officer before becoming a Police Officer in August 2016.

He currently resides in Wanganui with his wife and their two teenage daughters.
