Denis Orme

First class motivational business speaker, Denis Orme has been involved in turning businesses around for over 30 years.

Denis’ experience encompasses restructuring businesses, doing one-on-one mentoring and coaching of CEO’s and management teams, devising and implementing high-level business strategies, turning managers into leaders, helping companies to analyse operations, develop and implement change management strategies and return organisations to sustainable profitable long-term growth. He is an informed and entertaining speaker.

Denis Orme returned to NZ in 2007, following 20 years living in the USA as Performance Leader of the Leadership Success Institute Inc. where he was recruited heavily by startup businesses through to Fortune 500 companies to analyse operations, develop and implement change management strategies, and return organisations to sustainable profitable long term growth.

His career in NZ includes being the first CEO of Russell, McVeagh, McKenzie and Bartleet, the first CEO of IBANZ (Insurance Brokers Institute) and CEO of Bartercard NZ. He also spent three years in the late 1990’s completing business repositioning projects primarily for the Wilson and Horton Group. His business education was through both Victoria and Auckland Universities.

His business consultation has been as a court-appointed receiver or liquidator; taking companies through a turnaround; advising on business startups; and providing “hands- on” support from an Operational, Strategic or Marketing perspective. This work gave rise to the first of his four books: “Lessons from Leadership Failures: The Greenfields Approach”. His philosophy has always been to provide that “hands-on” support and to make sure things work as recommended.

While implementing plans, the economy changes, the market moves, technological changes will keep your head spinning and most of all, your people need strong centrally directed leadership (not autocratic management) to keep the focus and achieve the result, with effective leadership being the key to success in every situation.

Denis is recognised for his keen insight and intuitive ability to discern and leverage core organisational strengths, eliminating functions that impede revenue growth, and in building rapport and creating motivated, high performance teams. He has received leadership awards from the American Lung Association, Business Volunteers for the Arts and the Greater Houston Partnership.
