Former Black Fern, now a Sports Presenter and excellent MC.
Former Black Fern player and part of the twice winning women’s World Rugby Team, now a sports commentator with Sky Sport, she can be seen on television – fronting it with the guys.
Melodie Robinson played 18 Tests for the Black Ferns – the NZ Women’s Rugby Team from 1996 to 2002 before retiring from the game. She was also part of two World Cup winning teams. An outstanding blindside flanker, she combined speed in the open with a physical edge in defence. She was at her very best in 1998 when as a wide-ranging loosie she put Vanessa Cootes away for three of her five tries in the World Cup final. In 2002 she was appointed a Board member to the New Zealand Sports Drug Agency and before that enjoyed a term on the Alcohol Advisory Board. She comes from a radio and internet media background and is a graduate of Otago University. She is now carving out a new career as a sports journalist and presenter.
Melodie has worked as a judge on the Halberg Awards and is currently a Sky Sports presenter.
