Mary teaches people practical hands-on skills in sales and is an expert in helping people make the transition between theory and experience. Mary decided long ago that “If it is to be – its up to me”. Having purchased a Success Motivation Institute programme six months earlier, she began to look to her strengths, talents and abilities and then with some trepidation, started a business in Mail Order Tracksuits on the strength of one good style and a good source of fabric. From a no capital start and no knowledge of business procedure, Mary Hunt Designs was turning over ¼ million dollars within sixteen months She found that her forte was with people, sales and design. Her team blossomed, and while she loved what she was doing, after ten years she found herself attracted to the ‘development of people’ and salesmanship. She joined SMI as Development Director, sold her business and moved to Auckland. In this role Mary was involved in all aspects of sales, recruiting, managing and training commission sales people. In 1987 she won the Australasian Sales Manager of the year Award and in 1988 became Distributor of the Year for New Zealand. Mary has now moved out into her own business in sales training and business promotion. She is a first class prospector and networker and sees opportunities where many people cannot. For the last 10 years she has been involved with teaching commission sales people how to work smarter not harder by generating business as they go. This ability has been gained at the coalface training many people out in the field with live customers, breaking down the information into small achievable bites. Mary’s delightful way of putting things is combined with a magnetic energy and a mischievous sense of humour as she talks about real life situations and our ability to miss the obvious. She is able to drive a point home with reverse psychology and a ‘mad-hatter’ mentality. Mary is an excellent speaker, much in demand at conferences and seminars.
