Mary Holm

Mary Holm is New Zealand’s most widely read personal finance writer.

Mary's personal finance Q&A column appears in the Weekend Herald, and her award-winning syndicated column runs in the Dominion Post, Christchurch Press, Waikato Times and Gisborne Herald. She has also written several best-selling books on personal finance, including KiwiSaver.

Her career has been mainly in journalism, but she is now a part-time senior lecturer in financial literacy at the University of Auckland, and a director of the Financial Markets Authority and the Banking Ombudsman Scheme. She also presents seminars, and frequently discusses personal finance on radio and television. She holds a BA in economic history, MA in journalism and MBA in finance.

Mary’s presentations are down to earth, and audiences appreciate her independence – she is not selling any financial products or services. A National Business Review columnist has called her “New Zealand’s favourite investment agony aunt.”

In her spare time, Mary enjoys movies and plays, walking in wild places, swimming, and meeting with friends.
