One of the top street entertainers in NZ, Richard has over 10 years experience of international street theatre festivals.
A theatre on the street performer rather that a busker, there are three different shows to choose from employing a wide variety of skills. A recent invitee to the La Strada festival in Germany.
Richard Handley BA (Hons), is a performer and theatrical workshop leader with a richly diverse performance background.
Richard was born in Singapore and spent his childhood in Hong Kong and the UK. He has continued to travel extensively in his adult life and has performed in more than 20 countries throughout Asia, Europe and North America.
His first taste of the healing power of fun and laughter came when he preformed at Vietnamese refugee camps in Hong Kong. On later travels he has entertained slum kids in Bangkok, orphans in Bombay and villagers in Tibet and Nepal.
Richard has fine-tuned his craft by studying mime and clown performance with the Desmond Jones School of Mime in London, comic acting with the School of Comic Acting in Reggio Emelia in Italy, circus with Fool Time the UK’s premier circus school in Bristol, ‘fooling’ with Jonathan Kay, and Commdia del’Arte with Barry Grantham.
He has since worked in circus, theatre, television and at numerous international festivals.
