Murray Deaker
Murray Deaker is a well known former sporting commentator. He stamped broadcasting with his own unique style.
Murray Deaker's direct and sometimes controversial style has won him many awards including the Best Sports Presenter at the Radio Awards seven times and was a finalist on 10 other occasions.
He was also seen on Sky Television's "Deaker's Profiles" and on TVNZ's "Straight Talking With Deaker."
He is the author of the best selling "Deaker on Sport" from 1985 to 1990 was the Chief Executive of FADE, Foundation for Alcohol and Drug Education. In 2009 he received the award Officer of the New Zealand Order of Merit (ONZM) for Services to Broadcasting. His radio programmes consistently rated number one.
Murray has interviewed every top New Zealand sports personality and investigated most of the recent sports controversies, he is not reluctant to express his views which makes him an ideal, entertaining after dinner speaker.
At the end of 2013, Murray then aged 68 years, announced he would move on from his position at Newstalk ZB and from his Sky TV programme, Deaker on Sport.
