Jim has a great voice that spans all styles from dynamic ballads to rock, guitarist playing everything from Shadows to George Benson to Van Halen, flautist from James Galway to Jethro Tull, keyboards from jazz to Jerry Lee Lewis, comedy from traditional stand up to audience participation. Jim’s extensive experience in the entertainment field, gives him the ability to read an audience and deliver a ‘perfect’ evenings entertainment.
Use of modern transmission equipment means he is not limited to the stage and once out amongst the audience will quickly win them over with his sparkling personality. Using all the latest technology to the best advantage, Jim will perform as a complete band, but the accent is always on the ‘live” aspect of the performance.
As a corporate entertainer, Jim’s unique combination of music and comedy makes him ideal as an after dinner act. Jim, was resident vocalist on the popular television programme ‘Country Touch’ for four years, and appeared in ‘Radio With Pictures’, ‘Star Zone’, and ‘Twelve Bar Rhythm and Shoes’, plus residencies at the Pan Pacific Hotel and the Pavilion of New Zealand.
Jim can also MC your function for a total evening's entertainment. His infectious enthusiasm for all kinds of music captures his audiences in to having a great time. Jim Joll has received "Music's Most Professional Entertainer of the Year" award at the "Golden Microphone Awards". Jim is dedicated to his profession and was awarded a “Scroll of Honour” for his service to the NZ music industry.
Jim performs solo, duo with a female vocalist or with a full band. As Active Talent Management, Jim has been producing comedy, variety, and music shows for the last 20 years. These shows are able to tour to any part of New Zealand, and regularly perform offshore. Each show comes complete with all the requirements to present the show, including glitter curtains, high quality sound, and full theatre lighting. They can transform any venue into a spectacular live theatre. Their market is corporate conferences and promotions, and licensed club entertainment. In October 2003 at the Entertainment Industry Awards, Jim was awarded the "Benny" which is the top award for NZ entertainers. Previous winners include Sir Howard Morrison, Rob Guest MBE, Gray Bartlett, Dame Malvina Major to name just a few. The Benny is awarded as a recognition of talent, professionalism, length of service and popularity. It is voted on only by the previous Benny winners and as a gesture of respect, all of the past Benny winners turned out to present the award.
