Ruby Tui

Ruby Tui is a NZ rugby union player.

She competed internationally when the national rugby sevens team won the silver medal at the 2016 Summer Olympics tournament. She won a gold medal in rugby sevens at the 2020 Summer Olympics and was a member of the Black Ferns team that won the 2021 Rugby World Cup.

  • 2019, World Rugby Women's Sevens Player of the Year.
  • 2022,  World Rugby Women's 15's Breakthrough Player of the Year.
  • 2022,  World Rugby Women's 15's Dream Team of the Year.

Ruby received a scholarship to study at Aoraki Polytechnic, where she completed a Diploma in Sport in 2013.

In September 2022 she released her autobiography Straight Up.

On 30 April 2023 she announced that she turned down enquires from various overseas organisations to sign a two year contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union, the contract allowed for her to have a sabbatical, which she is using in part to play Sevens in the USA.
