In 1999 Julie starred with the Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra in their Cisco Jazz Series, and was invited to perform with her quartet for the APEX World Leader’s Dinner, at the Auckland Town Hall. She recently toured New Zealand as support act for David Gates, Bread, and her group ushered in the new millennium at Auckland’s prestigious SKY 2000 event.

Julie’s debut solo album, INVITATION, featuring some of New Zealand’s finest jazz musicians – Murray Tanner, Andy Brown, Frank Gibson Jnr, Phil Broadhurst and Putter Smith (USA), was a sell out success, and preparations are under way for a second album which was released in 2005.

Julie has also professionally directed shows, toured New Zealand as musical director with international artists, taught music at tertiary and secondary institutions, and toured Europe and North America with the National Band of New Zealand. With husband Phil Broadhurst she runs monthly concerts by The Auckland Jazz Workshop, a showcase for developing jazz talent, and teaches a range of jazz vocal and piano students.

Whilst Bill Clinton was president of U.S.A., Julie and her band was the chosen band to perform at the APEC world leader’s dinner – the ultimate corporate gig.
